As for the clones. again, its been suggested many many times, and there's not a whole lot of reasons not to do it, other than "why would that system be better than the one we currently have?" Formations: I know it ben suggested a bunch of times but the question always come back as why. I'm saying that if you can actually have fleets warping in in optimal position it would give a slight advantage since there would be less wasted time getting into position. or is there a mechanic in place that addresses this already? Als I'm not advocating and increase in DPS or tank just the addition of tactical options. Why would being able to buy lots of clones at a time better? ummmmm..... small tweak, make better. not game breaking, less pain for people who go through clones a lot? BAND AID!
Formations: Fleet formations IRL or even in well written books serve many purposes, but one of their primary functions is to maximize damage to your enemy while minimizing damage to your ally. For Eve, since weapons don't collide with any object on their path to the target, fleet formations have less purpose than they would otherwise because there is no chance of damaging your allies. As for optimal and falloff, that just needs good planning.
Formations could dovetail into this, but I think the process of creating a formation would be over-ridden by the fact that we cannot really control the flight path of our ships. We can fly straight, slow down and turn, but our orbits are not really controllable. Grand Admiral Thrawn would be mighty frustrated.
Clones suck. I'm nearing my 100m birthday and I hate the upper level investments. Makes me want to shelve this toon in a station sometimes, but he's so damned useful.
If you want to fix clones, maybe make it so the players can buy/sell clones on the market. Give players the ability to manufacture them. I'm sure the Gallente would not appreciate this, but meh, we're capsuleers, not saints. Hell, it would give corpses a new purpose if that could boost a clone. Weird ramifications.
Ramifications, I think that's my catch word today. |
